mid-day posture reset

TRAINER : RAE
CATEGORY: MOBILITY
ESTIMATED TIME: 5 MINS

About posture:
It is no secret that bad posture is undesirable. Sitting in an internally rotated position causes back pain, neck pain, and headaches, not to mention weakens the glutes as well as the core. Regardless-throughout the day we find ourselves slouching.

If you sit a lot for work try to do this once an hour!

Equipment Needed: Comfortable seat

TRY IT

  1. Sit up tall.

    • Imagine someone pulling you straight up by your hair

    • Sit tall and find the natural s curve of the spine-from c shape to s shape

    • The pelvis is now neutral and you will feel your abs turn on slightly

  2. Bring your elbows to your sides and hands facing down in front of you. Externally rotate hands, out to the side, allow your shoulders to pull back, then bring hands back in front of you.

  3. Press heels into the floor to turn on and engage glutes and bring tension into the body.

While you aren’t expected to sit with perfect posture all day, the idea is to build muscle memory. This way, when you do fall out of your good posture, you will more naturally begin to cue yourself to return to it each time.

And thats what its all about! Building good, small habits overtime.
